Climbing India’s Highest Peak

If you’re planning a trip to the Himalayas, you might be curious to climb India’s highest peak. Hardeol lies at 23,461 feet (7151 m) in the state of Uttarakhand. It was first climbed by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police in 1978. Five people reached the peak that year. The trek costs around INR 3000 per person.

Getting there will take you from Delhi through Haridwar and Uttarkashi. From there, you’ll pass through Gangotri and the Kedar tal. After that, you’ll trek through Gaumukh, Bhojwassa, and Gaumukh, the main base camp.

Before beginning your trek, you’ll have to get a permit from the Forest Department. You’ll need to undergo a mental and physical fitness test to qualify. If you have a heart condition, diabetes, or asthma, you shouldn’t attempt the trek. It will be challenging but worth it. There are regular flights from Delhi to Dehradun. Once you’re there, you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views.

Mt. Kamet is 25,446 feet (7,756 m) high. It takes about three days to climb to the summit. Climbing the mountain requires an excellent physical and mental fitness. You’ll need to be prepared to deal with the weather. The temperatures can range from a pleasant 14 degrees celsius during the day to a freezing -15 degrees celsius at night.
